Please clear my nose
This sculpure in beech wood was made for the exhibition Les Mouchoirs de Poche in Convent art space and the Industriemuseum. Curator Gustave Demoen brought together 33 artists who all use textile handkerchiefs. Each designed a new handkerchief. All these work were on display in a scenography by architect Joris Kerremans and published in a book Great Noses Are Blown Alike by Posture Editions.
Through each nostril runs a loop of hadkerchiefs sewn together. Following poem written by Triske was readable by pulling the loop though the nose. The full poem was also screenprinted on a handkerchiefs as an edition of 14.
Exhibition pictures made by Cato Van Rijckeghem.
Please clear my nose of all the nasties I breathe
Cause the world needed filtering and what I filtered I now cede
The gas, dust and pollution I wish to leave behind
But I also filter energies, our airborne daily grind
Stuck up in these nostrils
Are stress and anxious cocktails
Don’t get me wrong it must be said
The filter works both ways
I buffer the outpour of this head
You’re lucky for my efforts at that
A piling up of nasties of the widest array
So my dear aid the handkerchief is very sure to stay
Cause the world needed filtering and what I filtered I now cede
The gas, dust and pollution I wish to leave behind
But I also filter energies, our airborne daily grind
Stuck up in these nostrils
Are stress and anxious cocktails
Don’t get me wrong it must be said
The filter works both ways
I buffer the outpour of this head
You’re lucky for my efforts at that
